Missouri ACP Governor’s Advisory Council Responsibilities and Expectations
Missouri ACP elects its Governor’s Advisory Council members to staggered three-year terms, with an option for automatic renewal following the first term (maximum of two three-year terms). The chapter elects the Council by a general membership ballot. The election occurs each fall.
The Council consists of the Governor, Governor Elect/Governor Elect Designee, Past Governors of the Missouri Chapter, Program Directors of all Missouri IM and Med Peds residency programs, committee chairs, Secretary Treasurer, and 15 at-large elected members.
The Council is expected to actively participate in the Missouri Chapter. Responsibilities and expectations of the Council are:
- Actively participate in Missouri ACP activities including educational and social events;
- Attend a minimum of 50% of all Council meetings during their term on the Council;
- Actively serve on 1-2 chapter committees;
- Establish chapter policy;
- Approve the annual chapter budget;
- Be responsive to Council requests, meeting polls, etc.;
- Act on behalf of the Council in their area of the state to recruit and retain members;
- Ratify or amend decisions made by the executive committee;
- Identify worthy candidates for advancement to fellowship from their community and/or institution;
- Make an effort to attend the national meeting at least once per term;
- Volunteer to judge abstracts at Missouri meeting; and
- Volunteer to participate in Doctors Dilemma (judge, write questions, timer, etc).
Nominations forms must be completed by October 31, 2025.
