Dear colleague,
We would like to invite you to participate in the research study “Cross-cultural acceptability of interventions that may increase control at the end of life in patients with dementia (CONT-END WP1)”. The study is conducted by the University of Missouri in collaboration with Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands. (https://www.lumc.nl/org/unc-zh/English/Research/Palliativecareindementia/TheCONT-ENDprogram/)
This study investigates the acceptability of two types of advance care planning, the use of technology at the end of life, and termination of life on demand. We will compare perceptions on acceptability of these interventions among patients with (early stage) dementia, their family caregivers, and physicians across six countries.
What does participation entail?
Participation involves a one-time online appointment, during which we will show four animation videos about the interventions, interview you about your perceptions of these interventions, and have you to complete a brief questionnaire. The appointment takes about one hour. You will receive $100 to compensate your time (digital gift card or bank transfer).
If you are interested in participating or have questions, please send an email to: [email protected] (Dutch investigators), [email protected] (Taylor Bosworth) or [email protected] (David Mehr)
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. You may also call: 573-999-1956 (Dr. David Mehr).
Best regards,
David Mehr, MD, MS, US principal investigator
Kevin Craig, MD, MSPH, US co-investigator
Taylor Bosworth, US research assistant
Xu Jingyuan, MSc, PhD candidate
Dr. Hanneke Smaling, senior researcher
Ass.Prof. Jenny van der Steen, project leader
