Poster Contest Rules

All poster contest entrants must be members of the Missouri Chapter of the ACP. Non-members may join online. If you are a member of a different chapter (non-Missouri address), notify ACP Missouri's Customer Service Team of your desire to be a member of the Missouri Chapter. You must be a member of the Missouri Chapter of the ACP to participate in the Missouri Poster Contest.   Non-member submissions will not be accepted.

All posters must be specific to internal medicine. ACP membership numbers are required when submitting entries on August 1, 2020.  Entries are only accepted from Missouri Residency Program Directors or Clerkship Directors. We will use the Missouri Chapter ACP Membership database as of 5pm August 1, 2020, to determine eligibility.

Changes to 2020 Poster Competition:
The 2020 Missouri ACP Poster competition will be virtual. Please see the updated information below for more information.

Resident Posters:

Residents may submit up to 2 posters. Resident poster first place winners in (1) Research; (2) Clinical Vignette; and (3) Patient Safety & Quality Improvement or High Value Care will receive a travel expense stipend and entry into the national Poster Competition at ACP's National Internal Medicine Meeting. A detailed description of poster categories is on the ACP website.

Student Posters:

Students are limited to one poster submission. Student winners of Clinical Vignette and Research will receive a travel expense stipend and entry into the national Poster Competition at ACP's National Internal Medicine Meeting. ​​A detailed description of poster categories is on the ACP website.

Important Dates:

August 1, 2020
5pm deadline for IM program or medical school to email Excel file with ACP Member name, ACP membership number, category, and title.  Entry information is accepted and used "as is."  Send Excel file to acpmissouri@gmail.com. Poster submissions are not accepted from individuals. Missouri ACP poster contest only accepts entries from Residency Programs and Medical Schools.

August 1, 2020
All abstracts to be included in the Pre-Judge category must be sent in PDF format by 5 p.m. The maximum word count is 500 words which includes poster titles, but not author names. This is only for the resident competition, and each residency program may submit up to 5. These submissions must also be noted in the pre-judge category on the Excel file referenced above. Of those submitted, 18 will be selected to participate in the poster competition.

Poster abstract PDF file - naming convention:
  • begin with program name (same for all from your program)
  • then surname of entrant
  • then first name of entrant
  • then the topic exactly as listed on Excel file.

August 17, 2020
Notification sent to residency programs of the selected pre-judge posters.

September 1, 8 a.m.
Link of 5-minute annotated PowerPoint slide of poster due to MO ACP. All participants that compete in the poster competition will need to submit a video of their annotated PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint is to be a single slide with just the poster, and a voiceover describing the poster/activity. The presentation can be no more than 5 minutes long. The videos will be uploaded to a YouTube channel for the poster judges to review. The video can be no more than 8 MB.

Presenters are also asked to send their poster in a PDF file, no bigger than 5 MB. The posters will be made available on the MO ACP website for viewing by members.

September 7-11, 2020
Poster judging to take place virtually. (These dates may change slightly based on final virtual conference schedule.)

September 16, 2020
Poster winners announced. (This date may change slightly due to final virtual conference schedule)
